New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 4, 2020) follows:

The One UI 2.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S9 began rolling out in June. It was first released via an OTA package to Galaxy S9 and S9+ models in South Korea. Since then, the update has slowly but surely made its way to the duo in other regions.

In fact, carrier-branded units in the U.S. from Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile also received the update before it was pushed to unlocked devices in the country. But the One UI 2.1 update is still not available on devices from carriers such as Fido in Canada.

Luckily, it appears that Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ units from Fido will be getting the One UI 2.1 update soon. Therefore, users with Fido-branded devices won’t have to wait too long for the update to become available.

According to the telecom operator’s OS update schedule, the Galaxy S9 duo is set to receive the update on August 5. Further, the new software version will bring the July 2020 security patch.

At present, the Fido-branded S9 and S9+ units have the May 2020 security update. We picked up this information thanks to a user on Reddit who corrected another user on the social platform who was expecting the One UI 2.1 update for the Galaxy S9 to be released on August 4.

Therefore, if Fido sticks to its plans, users in Canada have to wait one more day for the One UI 2.1 update to be released on the Galaxy S9 and S9+. As usual, we will post an update once it goes live.

In the meantime, you can check our Samsung Android 10 (One UI 2.0/2.1) update tracker to know when it arrives on your device. At present, the company is also working on the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update. Sadly, it won’t be available for the S9 series and the Note 9.

Update 1 (August 6)

As planned, the One UI 2.1 update for the Fido Samsung Galaxy S9 models is now rolling out to users in Canada. The update is based on Android 10 and is rolling out as an OTA package. A user on Reddit has also confirmed receiving the update.
