Asus Zenfone 6 July security update enables VoWiFi and improves Bluetooth headset stablility

Asus has been one of the most underrated Android vendors over the past few years. One of the most impressive smartphones from Asus recently was the ZenFone 6. It brought a cool rotating camera module that definitely was an eye-catcher.

Moreover, it came with the best specs at the time and was pitted against the OnePlus 7. And that is exactly why the device went under the radar. It released with Android 9 Pie out of the box and has since then been updated to Android 10.

The device has also picked up a few small updates to fix issues and add new features. A couple of months ago, the device picked up an update that brought VoWiFi and VoLTE support to the device. But the VoWiFi feature was limited to Reliance Jio users in India and Tele2 users in Sweden.

Cut to now, the Asus ZenFone 6 has picked up the July security patch. This new update is rolling out to World Wide, Europe, India, and Japan SKUs. The software version for the July update is 17.1810.2007.165. It now also brings the VoWiFi and VoLTE functions to users on the Telia network in Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

But that’s not all, the Bluetooth connectivity has also improved. As a result, the stability of connected devices should now be better than before. Here are the official release notes for the update:

– Updated Android security patch (2020/7/1)
– Enabled VoLTE/Vowifi on Telia (Sweden, Norway and Finland)
– Improved the stability of connected Bluetooth headsets
– Optimized system stability

It seems Asus still has some work cut out to fix bugs and issues on its smartphones. Recently we reported about the sound quality issues with the ZenFone Max Pro M1. Therefore, we expect to see more small bug fix updates from the company to arrive soon.

Speaking of which, you can check out our Asus Android 10 update tracker to know when it arrives on your device.
