Xiaomi has a new software update doing rounds for owners of the Redmi K30i 5G. The device is sold in China as a slightly toned-down variant of the Redmi K30 5G, with only minor differences in the main camera department.

I really don’t know why Xiaomi really elected to release the Redmi K30i 5G. The phone, as noted, is identical to the standard Redmi K30 5G variant, but the back camera has a 48MP main shooter alongside an 8MP ultrawide lens and a pair of 2MP depth and macro lenses.

On the other hand, the Redmi K30 5G, which has the same design and performance specs as the K30i, rocks a 64MP main camera that is aided by an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.

Despite the minor differences, the Redmi K30 5G and K30i 5G have the same underlying software running the show. With the K30 5G having received the stable MIUI 12 update, it was only a matter of time before the Redmi K30i 5G also got updated to MIUI 12.

Indeed, as of this writing, the device’s stable MIUI 12 firmware is now up for grabs. The OTA rollout is also in full swing, although the initial target should be a small section of Redmi K30i 5G units before a wider rollout in a week or two.

Rather than wait, we have the download link to install the MIUI 12 update on your Redmi K30i 5G manually.

Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
