Motorola G8 Plus (Moto G8+) is the only device from the Moto G8 lineup, that is waiting to get its hands on the Android 10 update. It is pretty confusing as to why the update has been held back for the device.

The OEM has also been pretty lackluster when it comes to adding more devices to its portfolio because, in the recent past, Motorola has not been able to bring about a device that would really catch the eyes of the Android smartphone market.

Coming back to the Moto G8 Plus, going by the recent reports, a new update has been rolled out for the Moto G8 Plus, but it does not bring what you are expecting. The new update brings the April 2020 security patchset based on Android 9 Pie.

This update also hints that the users who are waiting for the Android 10 update on their G8 Plus, might have to wait for an extended period of time.

Talking about the latest update, it is knocking the doors of the G8 Plus users with version number PPIS29.65-51-3 and is purely incremental in nature.

The update was currently spotted in Spain, however, more regions are expected soon to join. Here is what the official changelog received on the G8 Plus, reads:

* Android Security – Includes updates to security fixes Android until April 1, 2020

Although Android security updates are also equally important as the firmware updates as they fix several vulnerabilities of the devices to keep the user data safe, this update might come as a bit of a shocker for the Moto G8 Plus users.

Why are we saying this? Because as per one of our reports, the Android 10 update for the Moto G8 Plus was expected to roll out back in April alongside the Moto Z3 Play. But, by the looks of it seems like the update might well not arrive in May as well.

Motorola Moto G lineup devices, traditionally, are served with only a single OS update, and G8 Plus came with Android 9 Pie out of the box. So, the Android 10 update for the device is imminent.
