One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 background

One Piece Pirate Warriors was first released in Japan on March 1, 2012, as part of the 15th-anniversary celebration of the One Piece franchise. The development of the game is a collaboration by Bandai Namco and Tecmo Koei. It was originally designed for Sony’s Play Station 3.

On September 21, it was released in Europe, and in the United States on September 25 in the same year. The gameplay follows the story of the manga from East Blue Saga until the Return to Sabaody arc.

A sequel quickly followed a year after the success of the first game. One Piece Pirate Warriors two was released on March 20, 2013, now for Sony Play Station 3 and Sony PS Vita.

The game featured a new partner system and haki usage system that activates as the characters defeat foes. However, this second installment does not follow the manga. Instead, it followed its own storyline named Dream Story.

The third installment was then released in 2015 for Play Station 4, Play Station 3, Play Station Vita, and Microsoft Windows. In December 2017, a Switch version for Nintendo was released in Japan. Nintendo Switch version for Europe and US followed in May on the following year.

I am a university teacher who can't get enough of anime and manga. My class' group names are based on my favorite characters, especially from One Piece. I read manga or watch anime every chance I have. I started reading manga just a few years back and I was hooked the first day. I usually follow fan pages and am consistently given a Top Fan Badge. I also love baking and cake decorating and trying to make anime-themed cake designs.
