Game background

One Piece Pirate Warriors was first released in Japan on March 1, 2012, in honor of the 15th anniversary of One Piece series. It was created by Bandai Namco and Tecmo Koei team up for the Sony PlayStation 3.

It was then later released in Europe on September 21, and the United States on September 25 in the same year. The gameplay follows the story of the manga from East Blue Saga until the Return to Sabaody arc.

With the success of the first game, a sequel quickly followed a year after. One Piece Pirate Warriors two was released on March 20, 2013, now for Sony Play Station 3 and Sony PS Vita.

The game featured a new partner system and haki usage system that activates as the characters defeat foes. However, this second installment does not follow the manga. Instead, it followed its own storyline named Dream Story.

The third installment was then released in 2015 for Play Station 4, Play Station 3, Play Station Vita, and Microsoft Windows. In December 2017, a Switch version for Nintendo was released in Japan. Nintendo Switch version for Europe and US followed in May on the following year.

The updated game features similar game play from the first and 2nd installment, with the storyline following East Blue Saga up to Dressrosa arc.
