New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 23, 2020) follows:

It is always refreshing when a device gets a new update. Many Android phone makers, in recent times, try to push out regular security patch updates, often monthly, to their devices. Realme 2 Pro recently got updated to March 2020 update.

The March update to the Realme 2 Pro brought with it a bunch of goodies including VoWiFi. Unfortunately, the update also introduced an annoying bug to the device.

Many Realme 2 Pro users who updated to the March 2020 patch updated have been having an issue such that, whenever a new device connects to the hotspot created on the device, the phone would notify endlessly. You can read more about this bug here.

It was only a matter of time before someone high up noticed this update and did something about it, seeing as to just how widespread the bug is. And true, Realme has come out to officially acknowledge the bug.

“I’m sure most of you recently got the March OTA Update for your realme 2 Pro devices or you’ve downloaded it manually like me.

A lot of you reported the bug, when you turn on Hotspot, you’re notified with sound and/or vibration.

First of all, we’re extremely sorry for the inconvenience. All your valuable feedbacks have been forwarded to the developers. Thanks a lot for reporting.

I’m sure the developers will fix this really soon.”

In the same breathe, Realme has provided a quick-fix solution to this issue and promised to have the problem properly addressed as the same has been forwarded to the developers.

For affected users, you can follow these simple steps to stop your device from constantly going off when a device is connected to the hotspot.

  • Turn on your Personal Hotspot as you generally do, either from the notification panel or from the Settings itself.
  • Swipe to the left on the Hotspot notification you see, then you’ll get access to a small settings button. Tap on that.
  • In the following screen, Turn off both Ringtone and Vibration
  • As mentioned, this is simply a ‘band-aid’ fix to this problem and Realme 2 Pro users should expect a fix soon. Also coming soon is Android 10 for this device as Realme UI. You can read more about what is coming with that update here.

Also, we recently shared Realme Gcam 7.0 mods for a bunch of Realme devices for all of you that want to try Google’s computational photography magic.
