New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 16, 2020) follows:

Recent reports from South Korea revealed that Samsung is working on a new One UI 2.1 update for the Galaxy Note 10. Although not mentioned, details of the Galaxy S10 One UI 2.1 update were always going to pop up at some point too.

And indeed, according to XDA’s Max Weinbach, the Korean company is preparing updated One UI 2.1 builds for not just the Galaxy Note 10 series, but also the Galaxy S10 family.

Apparently, the firmware is already being tested on multiple U.S. unlocked variants of the devices, but there is no clear word on when Samsung plans to push the update to these devices.

The One UI 2.1 firmware being tested on the Galaxy S10 series has software version G97xU1UEU3DTC3 while the Note 10 family is testing the new skin as version N97xU1UEU3CTC3. Unfortunately, there is no room for the 5G variants in this testing phase.

For the uninitiated, the One UI 2.1 skin comes preinstalled on the Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Z Flip. This means that when the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10 One UI 2.1 updates arrive, they will still be based on Android 10, just like the S20 and the flip phone.

If earlier reports from Korea are anything to believe, the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 are also in line to pick up the One UI 2.1 update, but we can’t tell you when to expect it.

Since the base OS remains untouched, you can expect a few tweaks to the current One UI 2.0 as well as some new features to spice things up, but at this point, not much is out there about what Samsung plans to include in this update, at least for Note 10, S10 and probably other devices.

Update 1 (March 20, 2020)

A Samsung moderator says the One UI 2.1 is likely to roll out within the next three weeks, but of course, there is no guarantee here. Granted, the Galaxy S10 should begin receiving the update in early or mid next month, at least the global variants.

As for U.S. variants, the wait should be a little longer. The story should also be the same as the One UI 2.5 update that is also said to be in the works. Just so you know, this update is touted to bring support for Android 10 gestures in third-party launchers.

Update 2 (March 25, 2020)

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 & Galaxy S10 series One UI 2.1 update is now rolling out with new AR Emoji, Pro video, selfie camera 4K 60fps, Night Hyperlapse & more features. Head here for the complete coverage.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
