Original story (published on February 20, 2020) follows:

Android 10 has been around for a while now, having been officially unveiled back in September 2019. Many phone makers from Samsung to OPPO and even those with heavy skins like Xiaomi have been able to roll out the update to a good number of eligible devices.

With that, Android 10’s market share keeps increasing by the day. This even at a time when Android 11 development are getting into high gear. Not to be left behind, OPPO has some news for its OPPO Reno2 Z users.

According to the company, it plans to start the trial stages, better known as beta testing, for ColorOS 7 which is based on Android 10 for their device. According to the company, this will kick off in March 2020.

This development is very much in line with the company’s roadmap. According to reports released back in November 2019, OPPO planned to start testing out Android 10 for the Reno2 Z family of phones in Q1 2020.

At this point, we have seen many different takes on Android 10 from Samsung and its OneUI 2, to Xiaomi and its Android 10-based MIUI 11, and even Huawei’s EMUI 10. From there, we can begin to get a picture of what to expect from OPPO’s take on the same.

It is important to note that the Oppo Reno 2Z is one of the three phones in Oppo’s Reno 2 series, the other two being Oppo Reno 2 and Oppo Reno 2F. The smartphones were first unveiled back in September 2019 and are still running Android 9 Pie that they were launched with.

We still don’t have a clear picture of when the Android 10 update will land officially on the Reno2 Z family of devices but if history is anything to go by, it should be a matter of weeks before the official update is available for users that don’t want to take part in the trial process.

Update (March 6)

OPPO has released its Android 10 roadmap for Q2 2020 and Reno2 Z should see its frist beta starting March 16. More here.
