New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 19, 2020) follows:

There have been several reports of delayed software updates by Chinese smartphone vendors due to the coronavirus epidemic, but it seems OPPO’s ColorOS 7 update based on Android 10 won’t be greatly affected.

Matter of fact, the company recently announced a new ColorOS 7 update roadmap after seemingly shaking off some of the effects of the novel virus. In the updated roadmap, the OS should begin rolling out over the weekend to the OPPO K5.

Later next week, the Reno Z should pick up the Android 10 update followed by a flurry of other OPPO devices beginning March 10. The OPPO Reno 2Z will get it on the final day of March. However, all of this will be going down in China.

So, what about other markets? Well, according to the official ColorOS Global Twitter handle, three OPPO devices will be upgraded to the new ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 tomorrow, February 20.

This will go down in three regions (countries?), but for some reason, the guy behind the ColorOS Global Twitter handle hasn’t revealed the names of the devices in question, instead asking followers to engage in a guessing game. Hit the link on the screenshot below to try your luck.

Any luck guessing? Yeah, I thought so. On the brighter side, an anonymous online chatter has revealed some details about the devices and regions in question. Apparently, it’s the OPPO Find X (India, Indonesia), OPPO R17 (India), and OPPO R17 Pro (India/Indonesia/Thailand).

Of course, take this info with a grain of salt, but with tomorrow only hours away, we should be able to clarify everything pretty soon. Stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
