LG has been rather consistent in pushing out regular updates to its devices. Well, to be fair, many other phone-makers have really upped their game in the past few years as well. One such device is the LG G7 ThinQ.

The LG G7 ThinQ was first unveiled back in May of 2018 with Android 8 Oreo. The device has since been updated to Android 9 Pie with plans to update it to Android 10 soon.

Verizon users of the G7 ThinQ would be pleased to know that the carrier has begun rolling out the latest Android security patch update to the device.

This update is the 12th system update to roll out to the G7 ThinQ from Verizon. It brings the February 2020 Security patch level and bumps up the software version running on this device to G710VM20f.

According to the changelog, this is merely a regular monthly security patch update with little more in terms of features.

As expected, this update is still based on Android 9 Pie. This even at a time when many major flagships from competing phone companies have already been updated to Android 10.

LG is busy at work, working on an Android 10 build for this device. The update which is in Beta is already eliciting mixed reactions from LG G7 ThinQ users.

The skepticism and borderline anger from LG G7 users over this new update are concerning as these are the same users who LG expects to install this Beta and offer feedback.

To some extent, this reaction by LG users is also warranted as the company has been slacking in some areas. While other devices are getting updated to Android 10, Sprint users of this device have only recently received an update to Android 9 Pie.

We shall keep an eye on this and update accordingly. Check out our dedicated LG section for more.
