New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 28, 2020) follows:
What it means is this is a staged rollout, where the first batch is used to test the waters. If nothing goes wrong, a wider rollout will follow.
Its been a week since the POCO F1 Android 10 update first arrived but the wider rollout for the update hasn’t started. Perhaps the company still needs some more time to assess the performance of the software on the device before making it widely available.
This delay and/or lack of wider availability has pushed some POCO F1/Pocophone F1 owners to start asking questions about the OS and even future software update plans for the device.
Directing his query at the General Manager of POCO India and head of Pocophone Global C. Manmohan and Alvin Tse, the latter came out to clarify the update to Android 10 matter.
Apparently, the delay/missing security patches for the POCO F1 have been due to the company’s efforts to bring Android 10 to the device. As it stands, the stable version of Android 10 will roll out soon.
The stable build will rollout soon. Some percentages of users already have the beta build
Soon can mean anything from a few days to a month or even two, so we can only wait. As you wait for the POCO F1 Android 10 update to arrive, you’ll be delighted to learn that it won’t be the last software update the device receives.
When requested to keep providing regular POCO F1 software updates, Manmohan promises that POCO will keep grinding new updates for the device. Matter of fact, the next POCO F1 software update, perhaps the one after Android 10, is already in the works.
We will not stop working on POCO F1 updates. The next update is already in works.
Of course, given the POCO F1 has been around for a year and a half, you’d expect it to continue receiving software updates for at least another half a year. It is only thereafter that things might begin changing. Time will tell!
