December 2019 security patchset is the latest security update that OEMs are pushing in for their devices. A few smartphone brands like Google, Realme, and Samsung has already pushed in the December security updates.

And in a recent development, Samsung has pushed in the December 2019 security patchset for the European Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices. Moreover, looking at Samsung’s Android update cycle, both the devices are slated to get quarterly updates.

Not only this, but Galaxy A80 is also getting a new security update along with the Verizon Galaxy Tab S5e. Let us take a look at the updates received on the devices one by one.

Galaxy S7/S7 Edge

To recall, both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were launched in 2016. The new update for both the devices in Europe bumps the version number from ESJ2 to ESL3.

However, note that since both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have a new bootloader (v7) which means that the devices cannot be downgraded. So, go ahead and install the update only if you are sure.

The update will arrive via OTA, however, if you wish to manually sideload the update on your device then, head to the below section:

Galaxy A80

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A80 this year in April and the device sports an innovative motorized rotating camera. Coming to the update, it bumps the version number from ASJ2 to ASLB.

Keep in mind that the Galaxy A80 sports a new bootloader (v3) so downgrading is not possible. You can download the update package file from the below section for manual sideloading:

Notably, Galaxy A80 has been receiving the updates timely and we have reported it was served with the October security updates back in October.

Galaxy Tab S5e

Galaxy Tab S5e was launched back in April 2019, and sports features like Snapdragon 670, 4/6 GB of RAM, 7,040 mAh battery, a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display and up to 128 GB of onboard storage.

Cut to now, the new update that has been pushed in by Verizon comes with version number ASL1 and is purely incremental in nature. Notably, the device got the November update back in the previous month.

Keep in mind that the update is being pushed via OTA and will soon hit every unit. However, you can always go ahead and check for the updates by heading to Home > Applications > Settings > About Device > Software updates
