It seems that Samsung has realized the importance of releasing updates, as often as possible. This continuous flow results in happy users. In reality, these updates are very much important for all the security and privacy-minded individuals using the Galaxy devices.

And boy has Samsung pushed out updates! The Korean OEM even beat the likes of Google at their own game, having been the first to push out the monthly security patch of December.

Sticking to that trend, the OEM is rolling out the same December update to the Galaxy J7 Max. The update that can be identified by its build number BSK1/BSK3 weighs around 250 MB. The size is pretty much in line with the typical monthly updates we have seen from various phone makers.

Galaxy On Max is also receiving the December security patch. This is a rather obscure device that is popular in select markets. Internally, this phone is identical Galaxy J7 Max but the smart glow ring is not present in the former.

The phone was launched back in July 2017 so it is safe to say that this device is approaching the end of its life cycle.

The update is quite similar to the one rolling out to the Galaxy J7 Max, thanks to the common codebase. Apart from the size, the software version number is identical as well (BSK1/BSK3).

Galaxy M30s is also getting updated, only this time, there is no December patch. You might remember that we recently reported this phone picked up two consecutive updates with same software version (ASJ1). However, the device was stuck with August patch level.

Well, the newest OTA brings the security patch level to November 1. But unlike the other two phones, that is not the only thing this update carries.

Changelog

– A new camera function has been added; AR Doodle.
– The stability of Camera has been improved.
– A new Samsung Shop function has been added.
– The security of your device has been improved.

This update also invokes the anti-rollback feature. This means that you will not be able to downgrade to an older software build. A new bootloader (v2) is responsible for this action.

It is refreshing to see that Samsung is bringing premium features like AR Doodle to mid-rangers. Until now, this functionality can only be accessed on Galaxy Note 10 and S10 (after latest updates). It is these little things that add up to make a secure and functional ecosystem.
