Before the monthly security patches get trickled down to the carrier versions of devices, they have to come from Google, then to the OEMs like Samsung, LG, HTC and so on, then to the carriers like Sprint, Verizon, then to your device.

This case is playing out on the Samsung devices on Sprint. While many unlocked devices are already receiving the November security patch, Sprint is only now rolling out the October Patch to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. By comparison, the Galaxy Note 9 on Sprint got the same patches during mid-October.

The updates, both dated November 18, bring the build number of the operating systems to G930PVPUACSJ3 for the Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930P) and G935PVPUACSJ3 for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935P). The changelog for both these updates is pretty generic for a monthly security patch.

Fixes:

Bug fixes and October Android Security Patches

This is typical over the air update so you should expect the notification of the availability of this update pretty soon if you haven’t already.

Galaxy S9/S9+

As you may already know, US carrier-locked variants of Samsung Galaxy phones are always lagging compared to their unlocked counterparts sold elsewhere when it comes to receiving software updates and even major OS upgrades.

We once reported that the November security update is arriving via several US wireless carriers such as T-Mobile. Some will get the update as build number CSJ6 (T-Mobile) while others will get it as build CSJ7 (Virgin Mobile).

Sprint is now rolling out that particular update for the Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus. The build number for this update is CSJ7. Once again, the date of compilation of this build is November 18.

Across the aisle, the Verizon variant of Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ also received the November security update, albeit the build number is slightly different (CSJ9).

FYI, the AT&T variant of the phone is still stuck on October patch with build version CSI5.
