New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 6, 2019) follows:

The Snapdragon powered Redmi Note series plays a pivotal role behind building the monumental success of Xiaomi outside China, especially in India. The journey started with 2016’s Redmi Note 3, and the Chinese OEM continues to impress us by releasing awesome performers with killer price tag.

However, since the separation from Xiaomi, Redmi is slowly converting the theme of the Note lineup. The dual device formula (one regular, one ‘Pro’) is working well. To extend it further, the smartphone maker has played a gamble – introducing 2019’s Redmi Note 8 Pro with MediaTek chipset.

Reducing the massive dependency on Qualcomm may sound nice, but it is still unclear whether Redmi Note 8 Pro can continue the legacy of its predecessors. The phone comes with Android Pie flavored MIUI 10 out of the box, and is scheduled to receive MIUI 11 at the end of this year.

Global MIUI 11 rollout roadmap

Well, we are talking about global variants till now. Turns out, the owners of Redmi Note 8 Pro are already receiving stable MIUI 11 update in China! The unexpected OTA comes as a ~400 MB package and bundles October security patch.

As you can see, the current MIUI 11 build (V11.0.1.0.PGGCNXM) is still based on Android Pie, which is kinda disappointing. We hope Xiaomi will rollout Android 10 alongside the global version of MIUI 11 for Redmi Note 8 Pro in December.
