      October security update goes live for Moto G7 Plus, Redmi 8 & Redmi 8A in Europe

      Regular software updates for Android-powered devices are very important not just because it fixes several vulnerabilities but also, they improve the system stability and performance as well.

      On one hand, OEMs like Samsung, have already pushed in the November security update for their devices, while there are other brands that are still pushing in October patches.

      Three more devices have been ticked off from the list of devices that have been served with the October update. Reportedly, Moto G7 Plus, Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A are getting the October security patch in Europe.

      Let us take a look at the updates, one by one.

      Moto G7 Plus

      The Moto G7 Plus was launched in March 2019, and packs in some decent mid-range specs like Snapdragon 636, 4 GB of RAM, 3,000 mAh battery with 27W fast charging support, dual camera setup at the back, etc.

      Coming to the update, Motorola announced this update back at the beginning of October and it took a month for it to arrive on the device. It carries version number PPWS29.98-111-5. Below is the official changelog and the screenshot of the update prompt:

      The update is purely incremental in nature and packs in just the October security patch. Notably, the update is being pushed via OTA in batches and will take some time in hitting all the devices.

      Redmi 8

      Redmi 8, which was launched just a few months ago, is reportedly getting the October 2019 security update. In fact, it got the September update very recently.

      The new update carries version number V10.3.2.0.PCNEUXM and weighs in about 1.64 GB in size for the update package file. Below is the official changelog:

      – Updated Android Security Patch to October 2019. Increased system security.

      Notably, the update will be available via OTA. But, you can go ahead and download the update package file from below for manual sideloading:

      This update is purely incremental in nature and does not add anything new to the device. Moreover, the changelog for Redmi 8A is similar to the one for Redmi 8, mentioned above.

      Notably, Redmi 8A got its September security update very recently that brought in some changes to the UI as well as added App Vault as well.
