Huawei Mate 20/Mate 20 Lite start getting September update, EMUI 10 beta signup arrives for the former

Huawei recently unveiled its latest Mate 30 series devices which for the first time, did not use the Google Services Core and instead uses the Huawei Services Core.

In layman words, the Mate 30 series smartphones do not come with the Google apps and services pre-installed. In place of it, you get the apps and services built by Huawei.

Moreover, the company is still battling a U.S. trade ban wherein it has been denied the usage of stock Google services like YouTube, Gmail, etc. However, the Mate 30 comes with EMUI 10 which is based on the Android 10.

Though it could backfire the sales of Huawei smartphones across the globe, the company is selling the devices in Asia and Europe apart from its home country.

Cut to now, in a recent development, Huawei Mate 20/Mate 20 Lite is now receiving the September 2019 security patch. Earlier, we have reported that the Mate 20 Pro has received the September update and it seems like Mate 20/20 Lite’s turn.

Talking about the update on the Huawei Mate 20, the update carries the version number 9.1.0.338. Below is the official changelog for the update along with the screenshot of the same:

The update reportedly is incremental in nature and does not bring in any new features for the Huawei Mate 20 smartphone.

      Huawei Mate 20 Lite

Huawei Mate 20 Lite is another Huawei device that gets an incremental security update and does not pack any frills except the September security patch.

Talking about the update, it carries the version number 9.1.0.245 and weighs in around 121 MB in size which will not be too heavy on your mobile data or WiFi internet connection.

Below is the official changelog and the screenshot of the update:

Note that both the updates are being pushed via OTA in batches and will take some time in hitting all the devices. However, you manually check for the update by heading to Settings>>About Phone>>System Updates>>Online Update.

Also, there is some good news for the Mate 20 owners. The beta signup for the EMUI 10 has begun to pop up. Note that similar beta initiative for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro went live in Europe weeks ago.

The beta is currently available in the Netherlands and a few European countries for the regular Mate 20, while according to some users on Reddit, the beta signup is also available in Germany and U.K. on the Mate 20X.

If you are in the supported region then, you can enroll yourself for the beta update of the EMUI 10 on your Mate 20 smartphone. Note that being a beta update, this version of the EMUI 10 might have occasional bugs and glitches.

So, it is advised to have some information regarding the bugs and glitches on it before installing the update on your device.

      Happy Installing!
