Realme which was a sub-brand of OPPO (they parted ways last year), is one the news for quite a few things. First up is the new smartphones that the brand has added to its lineup, and secondly for its ColorOS.

For those who do not know, ColorOS is the custom skin of all the Realme smartphones which is based on Google’s Android operating system. We have reported quite a few stories that the company is looking to replace the ColorOS with the RealmeOS.

For instance, the mysterious Project X beta recruitment was highlighted by us. We also have covered various topics surrounding the RealmeOS. But, there is only speculative information that the company will really bring in the RealmeOS or not.

However, in a recent development, Realme has announced the ColorOS beta recruitment for Realme XT smartphone. To recall, the Realme XT is the latest smartphone from Realme that was launched in September 2019.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 712 which is paired with 4/6/8 GB of RAM and offers 64/128 GB of internal storage. At the back, you get a quad-camera 64 MP+8 MP+2 MP+2 MP cameras and in the front a single 16 MP camera.

Under the hood, Realme XT packs in a 4,000 mAh battery and also features an under-display fingerprint scanner. The device also sports a Super AMOLED display with a teardrop notch.

Talking about the announcement, the beta recruitment is only for Indian users and the applications are accepted starting from October 18 till October 22.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Indian residents
  • At least 18 years old
  • Owns a realme XT (other devices cannot enroll this time)
  • Provable experience in OS beta testing
  • Willing to provide own aadhar card or other form of identification
  • Willing to sign an NDA (infringement will trigger legal action)

Timeline

  • Applications are accepted from October 18th to 22nd (EOD).
  • Successful applicants will be contacted via email on October 25th (if you do not receive an email from us that means you have not been selected).

It is expected that this beta recruitment will most probably be for the Android 10 based ColorOS 7 but, there is no information about this from the company’s end. We will keep you in the loop if we have more info in this regard.
