Android 10 is officially available for download. This is true for owners of select phones like the Google Pixels, Essential Phone, and Redmi K20 Pro as well as device makers who wish to work on AOSP to deliver their skinned versions to their various devices in the market.

Companies with heavy skins are often among the last to reveal their roadmaps apart from an exception or two. This year, Huawei, a company that is often accused of over-customizing its version of Android, has already revealed its Android 10 plans.

In fact, owners of the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro who would wish to try the early EMUI 10 beta ahead of the stable rollout can already do so, which is quite impressive coming from Huawei.

While laying out such plans doesn’t mean the devices in question will receive the OS as stipulated in the roadmap, it does give users something to look forward to as they wait for the OS to arrive. This is exactly what you are getting with the latest Realme Android 10 roadmap.

As promised, here’s our roadmap for launching the #Android10 update for #realme smartphones!

The company has made an official announcement regarding its Android 10 plans that include pushing the OS to at least eight of its current devices. Given that Realme has, since 2018, released up to 15 devices (including a few China-exclusive models), this doesn’t look great at all.

The very first Realme smartphone came preinstalled with Android Oreo and has since been upgraded to Android 9 Pie. Going by Google’s software update policy, all Realme smartphones are eligible for an update to Android 10, their second and last major OS upgrade.

But looking at the official Realme Android 10 roadmap as provided by the company, only the Realme 5 and 5 Pro, Realme 3 and 3 Pro, Realme 3i, Realme X and XT, and Realme 2 Pro will be upgraded to the new OS.

The first devices to get the OS will get it in Q1 2020. These are the Realme 3 Pro, Realme 5 Pro, Realme X and Realme XT. In Q2 2020, the OS will arrive on the Realme 5, Realme 3 and Realme 3i before the Realme 2 Pro joins the party in Q3 2020.

At the moment, we don’t know if Realme has plans to expand this list of devices expected to get Android 10. However, it’s interesting to note that of the eight devices on the list, all but the Realme 2 Pro have Android 9 Pie out of the box.

This means the Realme 2 Pro will be receiving a second major OS upgrade, probably as the first Realme device ever. Granted, there should be similar updates for other Realme phones to bring them on par with the Realme 2 Pro, but this is just wishful thinking.

We will keep track of Realme and what they have to say about Android 10 prospects for other Realme phones not included in the initial list.

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem.
