Oppo hasn’t been able to find a spot in the list of spec savvy gadget enthusiasts for quite some time. Presumably the OEM burnt millions to hire celebrities to promote their selfie cameras, although the innards still aren’t as impressive as those of the contemporaries.

While Oppo focused solely on the offline market, Redmi grew leaps and bounds by offering the best value for money specifications. Contrary to the former, the Xiaomi sub-brand fixed their attention online (mostly on flash sales), and the plan worked wonders for them.

It took some time for Oppo to realise they needed to take down Redmi’s monopoly in budget segment. Not only did they start pricing their phones reasonably, but launched a sub-brand with the chief aim of replacing the Beijing-based brand as well. Yes we’re talking about Realme here.

In the outflow of new ones, does Oppo pursue their old models with firmware updates? If you ask the same to Oppo F9 Pro users, they will say the delivery had never been frequent (although they released the trial version of Android 9.0 Pie based ColorOS 6 some time back).

As a F9 Pro owner, you might be tired of waiting for August patch, for the entire month’s through and the patch is still not live. Many would be speculating they would miss out on it. But turns out, they would not! Oppo has finally started rolling out the latest security update now.

Coming with the build number CPH1823EX_11_A.18, the package weighs ~620 MB. The size may vary based on whether or not you installed the last iteration. Apart from bumping up the security patches to August, the new update also brings some tiny improvements to F9 Pro devices.

It’s been a few hours since the OTA was first fired. However, all users may not get the notification on their F9 Pro units at once because brands unwrap such updates in batches. So it’ll be a matter of a few days for some until the update notification hits their units.
