Xiaomi may not release major Android updates often. Still, you can’t deny their frequent MIUI iterations. Users don’t usually mind the delay in major updates given the interface is heavily skinned.

If you follow news on new smartphones, you know Realme has released two phones with the same chipset (Snapdragon 710). They already became memes for the same.

Xiaomi did it in the past with Snapdragon 625. Apart from the regular models, the company released a selfie-focused Redmi Y2 in India with 625 inside. It carries the name Redmi S2 in China.

To recall, Redmi Y2 comes with a 5.99-inch HD LCD display. There are two versions available in the market- 3 GB/32 GB and 4 GB/ 64 GB. As for the optics, the dual rear camera setup houses a 12 MP primary and a 5 MP depth sensor. Up front, the selfie shooter measures 16 MP in resolution.

Came with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, the phone never followed a frequent update roadmap. Xiaomi even had to deal with the fiasco of accidentally releasing the stable build of MIUI 10.3.2.0 based on Pie and pulling it back.

The OEM did let the users live with Android Oreo for another couple of months and finally released Pie based MIUI a few days ago. Fortunate for users, they didn’t pull it back.

Update withdrawal affinity of Xiaomi never ended, it seems, at least in case of Redmi Y2/S2. A few hours ago, we spotted a few users claiming to have received MIUI 10.3.4.0 global build update. They went on to publishing screenshots featuring the changelog, which barely notified anything major.

While the update news broke out, people even appeared with the frustration to not still have a charging animation. Some of the users reported that the rear camera portrait with filter images issue still persists.

While users were discussing all this at Mi Community, Xiaomi reportedly pulled back the update a few minutes later. Yeah, people who adjourned updating the device failed to see the notification for a second time. The downloading process halted in the middle for a few.

Today I received an pie update….I have downloaded 30% after that update has been rolled back….. right now no update has found

update gone again

As per reports, the update package size varied from device to device. There are people who received a 66 MB update. Then there are those with even 1.4 GB. Something that usually happens depending on whether one is fetching an incremental update or installing the patch after a gap of builds.

Nothing matters as of now! Multitudes of people broke their silence to confirm the update has been retreated. Who knows! A naughty Xiaomi guy might have pressed the Publish button again, which may be interpreted as accidental very soon.

Did you receive the update? Is it gone for you too? Drop a comment and let us know.
