Having the latest flagship phones usually ensures faster software updates, but you may stumble on awkward positions as well. For example, the OnePlus 7 Pro users are still on May 2019 security patch whereas the regular OnePlus 7 got June update a few days ago.

Well, looks like the Chinese OEM is planning to put some extra love for their legacy products, as the June security patch has arrived (I would say rather unexpectedly) on both OnePlus 3 and 3T.

As you can see, the changelog is quite minimal. Even Manu J.’s official update announcement thread has nothing interesting, besides the regular info on staged rollout.

This OTA will have a staged rollout, the OTA will be received by a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days (sometimes a couple of weeks or more) after making sure there are no critical bugs, so using VPN to download this build might not work as the rollout is not based on regions and is randomly pushed out to a very limited number of devices.

We have done a quick comparison between the firmware related files between the new and the older OxygenOS 9.0.3 build (the re-released Android Pie update for OnePlus 3/3T). Though the new build (compiled on June 25) comes with updated firmware, the data corruption issue likely remains unfixed.

OnePlus is now providing incremental OTA packages from previous build, which directly indicates that they are considering the Pie rollout as 100%.

As a consequence, the volume of migration from Oreo based OxygenOS 5.0.x to the new Pie based OxygenOS 9.0.x should be substantially low. Thus the existence of the data corruption issue means almost nothing to them.

After updating to OxygenOS 9.0.4, some users are unable to find the SAR information from the ‘About phone’ section (check the above screenshot). Apart from this visual glitch, the build reportedly fixes a bug, where the status of photos and videos backup gets stuck infinitely.

Thanks to the Oxygen Updater project, the download links of the full update packages are listed below. You can flash them using stock recovery/TWRP or use them via Local Upgrade method.
