Honor View 10 June security patch arrives; Honor 8 Pro also gets new update
Honor View 10, is the Huawei sub brand Honor’s View series’ 2017 high-end phone. Fueled by HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, the phone came with Android Oreo layered with EMUI 8. In the beginning of this year, the device received its first major OS update in form of Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0.
Just last week, Honor View 10 received the May security update that bumped the version to 188.8.131.52 (C675E6R1P9). The patch also fixed a system language-related glitch.
However, the update left users complaining. As we highlighted in our coverage, right after installing the patch, users began complaining about device lag or hang, apps not closing and continuously running in the background leading to faster battery drains, device heating and other problems.
For some of the affected users resetting the devices’ settings did the trick and resolved at least some of the issues. Cut to now. Honor View 10 is receiving another update that brings along the June security patch. The update (weighs ~250MB) bears build number 184.108.40.206 (C432E4R1P12).
This one is a minor security update, as the changelog doesn’t state much other than June patch.
Apart from Honor View 10, Honor 8 Pro is also receiving a new monthly security update. Honor 8 Pro, for a quick refresher is the OEM’s 2017 high-end device that is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC. The phone originally shipped with Android 7.0 (Nougat) layered with EMUI 5.1 out of the box.
Back in March this year, the device received its second major Android OS update in form of Android 9.0 Pie/EMUI 9.0. It received Android 8.0 Oreo back in February last year. And now the phone is again receiving an update, but this one is a monthly security patch instead of a major one.
The new update brings the May security patch (sized ~400MB) on the device and bumps the version to 220.127.116.11. The patch enhances camera performance and fixes a WiFi connection related glitch. Here’s what the changelog (translated form German) reads:

Optimizes the camera performance in certain scenarios.
Fixes a problem where a Wi-Fi connection can not be made in some scenarios.
Integrated in May 2019, Google released security patches for improved system security.
As is usually the case with updates, these updates will also be rolling out in phases. So they may take time to reach to all Honor View 10 and Honor 8 Pro devices. So hand in tight.
