Celebrating an anniversary can be done in a number of ways. Some people prefer to arrange a gathering with friends and relatives, whereas a handful of others prefer to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime event to observe the occasion.

Leakster Steve H.McFly, who goes by the alias OnLeaks, celebrated the 4th anniversary of his Twitter account in a rather fascinating way. Most of the OnePlus fans should remember that, but allow me to recap it anyway:

Those high quality CAD renders brought a storm in the OnePlus communities. Aside from some petty leaks, it was the first full-fledged leak of the upcoming OnePlus phone with a 360 degree view.

Moreover, we already know about the three distinct variants of the OnePlus 7 (which are the regular OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 5G).

Now OnLeaks once again has decided to unveil a bunch of never-seen-before renders of the upcoming OnePlus 7, in collaboration with PriceBaba.

The leaked image is allegedly depicting the regular/base model of the OnePlus 7, which looks surprisingly similar to the OnePlus 6T. You may recall that a case render was surfaced a few days before, showing the similar rear design.

We speculated the following:

It is highly probable that we are looking at some cancelled prototype or a different variant of the OnePlus 7. Personally I like to stick with the second proposition.

And now OnLeaks has confirmed the legitimacy of the assumption. The Chinese OEM probably just remodeled the OnePlus 6T with upgraded internals, and decided to call it the regular OnePlus 7.

As readers can notice, the rear LED flash is now housed inside the camera hump (unlike OnePlus 6T), which measures 9.5 mm in thickness. In terms of physical dimensions, the base OnePlus 7 measures 157.7 x 74.8 x 8.1 mm.

The ports and button placements remain unchanged from its predecessor. This new set of renders indicates that the previous leak from OnLeaks actually based on the ‘Pro’ variant of the OnePlus 7 with a popup selfie camera.

Here is the exclusive 360 degree video based on the new renders, courtesy to OnLeaks and PriceBaba:

At this moment, the physical appearance as well as the tentative internal hardware configurations of the upcoming OnePlus phones are well-known. Nevertheless, those are not enough to stop Pete Lau (OnePlus co-founder and CEO) to drop exclusive hints.

What do think about Pete’s tweet? Are we going to get a teaser tomorrow? A launch date perhaps? Share your thoughts by commenting below.

Meanwhile, Amazon India continues to sell the OnePlus 6T at a reduced price, even after the Fab Phones Fest.

Bundled with exchange offers upto ₹13,000 and ₹1,500 instant discount on ICICI bank credit/debit cards, potential buyers can get a flat discount of ₹4,000 for the 8 GB RAM variants.

The amount of the discount is ₹3,000 for the 6 GB RAM model, which is essentially same as the Fab Phones Fest deal. Inventory cleanup, huh?

While the fans are waiting for the launch of the next big phone from OnePlus, the Chinese OEM has unexpectedly started to roll out a new set of Open Beta builds for OnePlus 5/5T and 6/6T since today morning.

The changelogs for the Open Beta 30 (OnePlus 5), Open Beta 28 (OnePlus 5T), Open Beta 16 (OnePlus 6) and Open Beta 8 (OnePlus 6T) are unified.

System

– Updated Android security patch to 2019.04

– Improved network speed display

– Supported shortcuts to access corresponding interfaces in Quick Settings

Quick reply in landscape

– Supported quick reply in the notification bar

Launcher

– Added tutorial in shelf

– Added Parking location feature

– Improved page Indicator to mirror Icon pack

Some of the functionalities, such as the Parking location feature was discovered by the community members earlier. The inclusion of the April security patches is kind of surprising, as OnePlus often skips a month and delivers such security patches cumulatively.

Moving on, OnePlus has made its way to the top five global premium smartphone brand for the first time, as indicated by a new study conducted by Counterpoint Research.

Although Apple and Samsung are the dominant brands in this category, OnePlus and its big brother OPPO have performed beyond expectations. The expansion of the size of the premium market segment across regions plays a vital role in this reshuffling.

As noted by an analyst:

OnePlus’s performance came on the back of the OnePlus 6T. In terms of regions China, India, and Western Europe drove four-fifths of its global shipments. OnePlus recorded its highest ever shipments in a single quarter (Q4 2018) in India to lead the premium smartphone segment for three successive quarters and captured 36% market share. Another feat for the brand came in Q4 2018 when it entered among Top five OEMs in the premium segment in the US for the first time.

While OnePlus may not be a budget friendly OEM anymore, it can still be possible to grab a brand new OnePlus 6T for absolutely free!

Well, there is obviously a catch. You have to participate in this game organized by the OnePlus US team, called #ReadOurMinds!

You need to guess the answer to this simple question:

Which superhero best represents OnePlus?

Post your answer as a reply in the game thread before April 22, 11:59 AM ET. If your answer will match with the answer given by a random OnePlus member, you can get one of the following goodies:

  • OnePlus 6T device
  • $15 vouchers
  • OnePlus Never Settle shirts
  • Access to a sweet bundle offer (limited quantity)

Folks, try your luck! See you guys tomorrow… ciao!
