giffgaff text message problem

As you may know, O2 had a severe outage yesterday, which affected Tesco Mobile and giffgaff as well. While O2 outage may be over, giffgaff users are still reporting issues.

Specifically, users say they either can’t send text messages, or messages are being actually sent but they are getting errors, or in some cases messages are being sent multiple times.

giffgaff customer care on Twitter has confirmed they are looking into the issue:

You can follow the list of complaints here.

Update (December 07):

Affected users say Vodafone website isn’t accessible (and we can confirm that’s happening). 4G/data, as we already told you earlier, is not working. As for calls, Vodafone to Vodafone are currently possible.

Original story follows:

After Facebook and O2 earlier this week, now it’s coming to light that Vodafone network is down, at-least in Australia (we aren’t sure at the moment if the outage is affecting other regions as well). Users are taking to social media to report that there’s a service outage that’s negatively affecting their data/4G connections and even phone calls in some cases.

Here are some of the recent complaints:

There’s currently no information directly from Vodafone about this outage on their official social media channels, but some users have said the company is working to fix it.

We are keeping an active tab on the matter, and will update the story as and when more information is available. Until then, keep a tab here.

PiunikaWeb is a unique initiative that mainly focuses on investigative journalism. This means we do a lot of hard work to come up with news stories that are either ‘exclusive,’ ‘breaking,’ or ‘curated’ in nature. Perhaps that’s the reason our work has been picked by the likes of Forbes, Foxnews, Gizmodo, TechCrunch, Engadget, The Verge, Macrumors, and more. Do take a tour of our website to get a feel of our work. And if you like what we do, stay connected with us on Twitter (@PiunikaWeb) and other social media channels to receive timely updates on stories we publish.
