New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 06, 2021) follows:

In times when the global pandemic of COVID-19 has been a big deal and staying safe at home became more important than ever, several apps and services have gained much more relevance among the public.

Zwift, the app designed for realistic indoor training, is one of the most benefited. Many people were used to running or cycling every day, and Zwift was a fun alternative.

However, some Zwift users report that the companion app is not working properly on iOS 15.1 (1, 2, 3).

Blue screen issue while trying to open Zwift companion app on iOS 15.1 devices

According to reports, some users of iOS 15.1 devices are facing a blue screen issue while trying to open the Zwift companion app.

Zwift Companion App blue screen

I get a blue screen that goes nowhere when I try to open the companion app. By shutting my phone down and logging in it finally gets up and running. However, it then only connects intermittently when I am cycling on Zwift. Most of the time it just sits on the home page. I use an iPhone and iPad. Very disappointing. Is there a fix coming?
Source

As the previous report indicates, restarting the phone makes the app open. But then, the connection is intermittent.

In other cases, although the Zwift companion app opens, the live map that should appear when starting to ride is never shown.

Zwift companion app
Since the update to ios 15.1 my iPad Air 2 does not display the “live map” when I start a ride in Zwift, it just shows the mail companion home screen …the app continues to work fine on other devices at 15.1 and on an older iPad running 12.5.5. ZPC worked previously before the update to 15.1 Any ideas…?

Most of the reports convey the glitch started with iOS 15.1 update. This may be an indication that the app needs more adaptation work to the latest version of Apple’s mobile OS.

It should be noted that, many months ago, Zwift users reported crashing issues, but this problem occurred on Mac and PC. The new issue is related to the companion app.

Zwift team is working on a fix

Currently, the Zwift development team is aware of the reported issues. They’ve also confirmed that a fix is under development, but there is no estimated date for its rollout.

Hey Jason, thanks for reaching out. We apologize for the inconvenience! Our team is working to fix the issue, thanks for your patience.

It should be noted that the company was already aware of the bug since the beginning of November. But, they did not have time to include the fix in the latest version of Zwift Companion (v3.30.0).

Therefore, the affected users can only wait until the next update, which we hope does not take long to arrive. Rest assured, we’ll be keeping track and will update this article as and when any new development takes place. So check back this space.
