Taiwanese OEM ASUS unveiled ZenFone series’ new addition ZenFone 6 just yesterday at a launch event in Valencia, Spain. The phone is gaining a lot of traction for its unconventional design that embraces a 48MP flip camera with Sony IMX 586 sensor and massive 5000 mAh battery.

Powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC, ZenFone 6 will be shipped with Android 9.0 (Pie) and ASUS’ latest skin ZenUI 6. The simpler and cleaner new UI integrates the currently trending Dark mode, new Smart Key for instant access to a range of commands and Smart Volume that adapts/controls intelligently.

As soon as the company announced ZenUI 6 for ZenFone 6, as is usually the case, curious users of the existing flagship ZenFone 5Z began inquiring across the company’s official help forum as well as Twitter if their phones will be upgraded to the newest ZenUI 6. And if so, by when?

Here are some queries posted on ZenTalk forum:

When will Zenfone 5z get the latest ZenUI 6 update??

After launch Zenfone 6 device. 5z user get Zen Ui 6.0 update? Guys anyone know?

Following are some of the recent tweets asking about the same:

ZenFone 5Z, as some of you may know is ASUS’ 2018 ZenFone 5 series’ high end device that shipped with Snapdragon 845 chipset, Android Oreo (upgradable to Android Pie and beyond), layered with ZenUI 5.

ZenUI 5 basically debuted with ZenFone 5 series that were announced at MWC 2018. And ZenFone 3 Max was the first device that was upgraded to ZenUI 5 (along with Android 8.1 Oreo) in about a month’s time form ZenFone 5Z’s release.

On those grounds, older ZenFone device users may expect ZenUI 6 to arrive about a month later from ZenFone 6’s launch, which is expected in the coming week i.e. May 23.

Apart from speculations, we’d like to mention that recently, a ZenTalk forum moderator informed a ZenFone 5Z user inquiring about ZenUI 6 that there’s no exact ETA for ZenUI’s arrival on ZenFone 5Z. But the company intends not to take too long. Following is the moderator’s exact statement:

We do not have a firm release date yet but our intention is to not take too long.

Here’s hoping the company manages to accomplish their ‘intention’ of delivering ZenUI 6 to older ZenFone devices, so that users don’t have to wait for long. Rest assured, we are keeping an active tab on the matter and will update the story as and when any new development comes to our sight.
