In another attempt of enhancing the user-experience, YouTube has updated the Ambient mode on Android to make it even more vibrant than before. This update brings a more engaging feel to the viewing experience by casting gentle colors from the video onto the screen’s background.

YouTube makes the Ambient mode more vibrant

YouTube first introduced the Ambient mode last year and now it has received an update that makes it more vibrant. Previously in the portrait view, the Ambient mode was limited to the top of the video in the status bar. However, the recent update expands its presence.

Now, it is not only visible above the video but can also be seen below the video. The effect extends behind the rows displaying the video title and stats, creating a more immersive visual setting. You can check out the difference between the old UI and the updated one below.

As noticed by folks over at 9to5Google, the enhancements to the Ambient mode are especially noticeable in full-screen portrait mode. Prior to the update, the top and bottom backgrounds were completely black. However, after the update, the effects have become more pronounced and captivating.

Furthermore, when viewing videos in landscape mode, the updated Ambient mode creates a vivid background on the left and right sides of the video. This change has been observed in version 18.49 of the YouTube app for Android.

The new Ambient mode not only makes the visuals more attractive but also improves the overall experience. It makes watching videos on the YouTube app feel more engaging and immersive for Android users.
