YouTube TV offers sports enthusiasts a front-row seat to their favorite games with stunning 4K quality. However, some Apple TV 4K users are reporting that YouTube TV is still showing ESPN 4K games in 1080p quality.

Earlier this year, YouTube said that it had resolved an issue with streaming quality on Apple TV. Users were getting a 1080p resolution instead of the expected 4K, even when a 4K stream was available.

However, it seems that several users are still facing this problem. For sports fans, especially during action-packed games, the difference between 1080p and 4K quality can be significant.

The glitch has understandably frustrated viewers who were eager to enjoy their favorite games in the highest possible resolution.

Just like last weekend the ESPN 4K game is showing in 1080p. I have two 4k TV’s with Apple 4k boxes, same issue on both. 4k boxes are the newer ones. 1 gig internet connection. The FOX 4K games came in great today. (Source)

Texas at Alabama is scheduled for ESPN 4K tonight. In the past it’s been true 4K on every device except the Apple TV and Shield which got a 1080P version. Anyone know if this has been fixed? I guess we’ll know soon enough… (Source)

Meanwhile, ESPN on other devices, like Chromecast with Google TV, continues to deliver content in 4K quality, whereas it only has 1080p as highest quality settings on Apple TV 4K.

According to a report, ESPN will not be producing one game a week in 4K as they were doing for the past two years. Also, both ABC and ESPN Saturday primetime games will be produced in 1080p HDR.

This could be the possible reason why users are now seeing games in 1080p resolution and not 4K.

The good news is that YouTube TV has acknowledged this issue. Last week, the company confirmed that it’s aware of the problem and is actively working on a solution. However, they haven’t provided any ETA for the fix.
