YouTube Live Chat mode not working (stuck on Top Chat) on iOS devices, issue acknowledged

Millions of people tune into YouTube on a daily basis to entertain themselves. Apart from that, the platform is also used by some for learning new things, creating content and sharing it with their peers, and much more.

However, like any popular streaming platform, YouTube also has its fair share of bugs and issues.

This time, users are facing some issues with the app on their iOS devices.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple users are facing an issue where they are unable to switch comments view from the ‘Top Chat’ mode to ‘Live Chat’ mode while streaming live on the platform.

Apparently, there’s no option to switch when you press the control button. Others claim that they only see a little triangle underneath the button after tapping on it.

The bug popped up recently and caused confusion among YouTube creators especially since it makes it difficult for them to connect with their audience while streaming.

Some have even tried logging out and signing back in to their YouTube account, uninstalling and re-installing the app on their devices but that doesn’t seem to help sort out the problem.

I’ve done the things listed above signed in and out my account and reinstalled the app on my devices but I still can’t get the Live chat feature to work.

Users have taken to social media platforms to express their concerns regarding the bug and have also asked the developers to help them resolve it.

Fortunately, YouTube has officially acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating it. Although, no official ETA has been provided for the same.

We will keep an eye on the YouTube issue on iOS when switching from the top chat mode to live chat mode and update this story as new information becomes available.
