YouTube has received a lot of backlash from content creators and viewers for forcing non-skippable ads.

Recently, the company started sending out emails to creators, notifying them that it would be removing individual ad controls in November.

This means that they will no longer be able to control the type of ads that they can add to the newly uploaded videos. Consequently, viewers will now have to watch non-skippable ads.

And by looking at the reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), it appears that the company’s recent move has not been well received by users. Some are even questioning the rationale behind restricting creators’ choices in ad placement.

They claim that even though the midrolls will remain customizable, they will no longer be able to select the style of ads featured in their videos. People think that the primary motive behind the recent change is profit maximization.

They understand that it makes sense from a business perspective, as YouTube’s income is mainly based on advertisements. However, they also believe that limiting a creator’s authority over ad placement is counterintuitive.

Creators are worried that this alteration might affect their user base. Some are also concerned, as they had previously promised their channel’s subscribers that they would never have to view non-skippable ads on their content.

A few are quite unhappy with the modification and claim to have lost their faith in the leadership behind YouTube. A subset of users argue that this change is not intended to increase ad revenue.

They believe that the company wants to entice people to purchase premium memberships.

Welp. That does it. Neal Mohan has just destroyed YouTube. Looks like it’s time to find or make an alternative to the platform.

In addition, the amended policy also raises eyebrows regarding the frequency of advertisements, particularly for short videos.

Users are worried that a 15-second video might now feature four overwhelming ads, potentially disrupting their viewing experience.

However, this is not the first time that users will face disruptions because of frequent ads. Notably, frequent YouTube ads have been annoying users for more than two years.

Some even believe that the company should focus more on retaining customers than increasing its profit margins.
