After meeting certain criteria, YouTube provided content creators with a Custom URL option. It allows them to create a URL based on their channel name, as long as it is not already in use.

The channel must have 100 or more subscribers, be at least 30 days old, and have a profile and banner pictures uploaded.

However, now many users are complaining that the Custom URL option isn’t showing up for them.

This is a deliberate YouTube change. If you haven’t yet chosen a handle for your channel, they will do so for you starting November 14, 2022. However, it will be customizable in YouTube Studio.

YouTube is gradually rolling out the ability to choose a handle for all channels over the coming weeks. Creators will get another email and a notification in YouTube Studio when they will be able to select theirs.

The new ‘Handles’ feature is intended to replace Custom URLs in order to increase platform discoverability. YouTube Handles will be unique to a channel and will help a creator stand out in search results.

YouTube has always worked hard to keep it as the number one video streaming platform by bringing constant changes and improvements that have impacted creators and viewers positively.

Hopefully, this is one of them.
