YouTube aware custom guide, ABC, ESPN, & other Disney channels still not reappearing & is working on a fix (workaround inside)

YouTube TV users have experienced stressful moments in recent days. Recently, it was confirmed that the service lost all Disney channels. It meant, the service users even lost access to important channels like ABC or ESPN.

But, just one day after the bad news was confirmed, the situation took an unexpected turn, as YouTube TV confirmed that it had finally reached a deal with Disney.

Having said the above, users should have recovered previously lost channels. However, many users report that ABC, ESPN, other Disney channels and their custom guides are still not reappearing (1, 2, 3, 4).

After more than a day of having closed a new agreement between Disney and YouTube TV, many users report that the channels that should have been recovered remain lost.

So it’s been about 24 hours since the email went out that yttv was restoring disney and abc network channels but for some reason my local ABC station is still showing that it’s vod only.

The same fellow further added:

I’m using a custom guide and have it checked off but still shows vod only. I’ve checked other zip codes of cities 2 to 3 hours away and in my state and for some reason they all show local ABC is available, but when I check my zip it says vod only available. I’ve had my local ABC since i signed up years ago until this negotiation thing happened.

This leads to another problem, and that is that the channels no longer appear in the custom guides of YouTube TV users as they used to be.

On the east coast of FL, I cannot see ABC or ESPN in my custom guide but if I search for them I can see them. If I go to Reset my custom guide, I see them.

The affected user goes on to say:

They can’t do two gut punches by not putting our customized guides back to how it was before, you know, pulling the SMU/NDST and Lakers games on Friday………….mid game.

Side rant…I was really butt hurt over those games being pulled mid-game.

The YouTube TV team confirmed that they are aware of the reported issue. Currently, the company is working on a fix, and in the meantime, they offer a workaround.
