MIUI 12 is currently the hottest topic in the Xiaomi community. This new build of the company’s skin on top of Android brings with it new features and a drastically new user interface.

Xiaomi has managed to roll out this update to a good number of its eligible devices and others are still undergoing testing. More on the status of MIUI 12 rollout in our MIUI 12 tracker here.

Towards the end of June, we saw the Redmi K20 Pro (sold in other markets as the Mi 9T Pro ) bag the much-awaited update to MIUI 12. The initial reception was overwhelmingly positive.

Now, however, it turns out that users of the Redmi K20 Pro are unable to activate the system navigation gesture feature. This is a full-screen gesture navigation feature that allows users to get rid of the traditional navigation buttons (Back, Home and Recents) in favor of swipe gestures to navigate the system.

While some users suggest that this feature can be enabled by going into Settings > Additional Options and toggling the fourth item in the menu, the Super Moderator on Xiaomi’s Community forum suggests otherwise.

In a response to a user seeking to enable gesture navigations on his Redmi K20 Pro, the Moderator confirms that the feature might have been left out of the MIUI 12 build for the K20 Pro and as such, asks users to look out for the next update as that will bring this feature.

It remains unclear how or why this feature was left out of MIUI 12 for this device but we hope that true to this moderator’s word, this feature will be added back.

Even as Xiaomi continues to steadily roll out MIUI 12 to more and more devices, we can understand the eagerness by users whose devices haven’t bagged a stable build of MIUI 12. We hope that Xiaomi keeps up the pace and delivers the MIUI 12 update to all eligible devices on time.
