Update 3 (January 16): The roll out has resumed – a new build is now rolling out. More info here.

Update 2 (January 12): While we aren’t sure when the Mi A1 Oreo roll out would assume, what has now come to light is that the build doesn’t feature fast charging support for the device. Head here for more details on the matter.

Update 1 (January 12): The company has officially acknowledged at-least one major issue with the update. It’s related to the dialer app getting hanged, preventing users from making calls. The acknowledgment post also contains a workaround for the issue.

Original story follows:

After OnePlus, now Xiaomi has pulled the stable Oreo update for one of its devices. The company made the roll out announcement for the Mi A1 Oreo update on the new year eve, but it has now come to light that the update for the Android One handset has been suspended.

Aside from a significant number of Mi A1 users who are reporting this development, we have a screenshot tipped to us by a reader which clearly shows a Xiaomi rep confirming that the roll out has been temporarily stopped.

As for the reason, it’s bugs. Yes, the update had a lot of bugs. For example, battery drain due to Bluetooth, user-interaction with ambient display notifications is broken, and it’s not possible to answer an incoming call if the phone is not locked but the screen is off. There’s currently no information on when the roll out will resume.
