New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 23, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi will unveil the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro on December 28.

The company has been teasing the devices on social media back at home for quite some time, meaning some details are already out.

For instance, it is known that Xiaomi will go for the newest Snapdragon 888 chipset to power the Mi 11 series.

It’s also a no-brainer that the OEM will include Android 11 out of the box. This owes to the fact that Xiaomi is proving to be pretty quick with Android 11 updates.

The likes of Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Poco F2 Pro, and Redmi K30 Pro have already been upgraded to the stable version of the OS, with more devices next in line.

But as usual, not even the relatively speedy rollout of Android 11 is getting Xiaomi fans off their seats. Instead, everyone has their eyes focused on the upcoming MIUI 12.5 update and MIUI 13 thereafter.

MIUI-13-update

Sure, it will take some waiting before MIUI 13 update comes around. But until then, Xiaomi has a stopgap update to spice things up ahead of the major upgrade.

We saw similar moves by Samsung, upgrading its devices across One UI 2.0, One UI 2.1 and One UI 2.5, all based on Android 10 but with some new features as well as much-needed stability and optimizations.

If anything, Xiaomi is simply borrowing a leaf from the big boy, promising to add new features to MIUI 12.5, among them image to PDF converter, redesigned UI elements, and much more.

There are reports doing rounds that MIUI 12.5 stable update will not be ready until late February 2021. And from a software development point of view, this looks plausible.

And from more recent developments, it is now emerging that Xiaomi will unveil the new MIU 12.5 skin on December 28 — the very same day the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro are expected to launch.

We have no way to verify this info, but not long ago, it had been reported that MIUI 12.5 will arrive this month, at least in beta version before the stable rollout in 2021. If anything, things seem to be in sync here.

As always, we will be following up this matter and update this post with newer developments whenever we come across them. Meanwhile, keep an eye on our MIUI 12.5 tracker to know when your device bags the update.
