An alleged list of Xiaomi smartphones that will bag the official update to Android 11 popped up not long ago. Unsurprisingly, the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are among the first devices scheduled to pick up the stable version somewhere in September.

The two are the current top-end smartphones Xiaomi has on offer, and typically, the premium models get to the new stuff ahead of the rest. Matter of fact, as of this writing, the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are already testing Android 11 beta, which explains the alleged September release for the stable version.

Until then, though, Xiaomi has something equally great in store coming your way. Announced for the global market back in May, the stable MIUI 12 started rolling out to the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro weeks ago. But typically, OTA updates take time to reach all regions.

This explains why those rocking the European variant of the Mi 10 Pro are only receiving the stable MIUI 12 update now. Their global counterparts, on the other hand, received this same update about two weeks ago.

At this point, though, no one cares as long as the update is here. It arrives as MIUI 12.0.1.0.QJAEUXM and installs over MIUI 11.0.12.0.QJAEUXM. Be sure to connect to a stable Wi-Fi network since the OTA is about 1GB in size.

Xiaomi notes that this rollout is targeting random owners of the Mi 10 Pro, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see an OTA download notification coming your way anytime soon. As it is, the wider rollout will commence only when Xiaomi is happy with the performance on the few random units.

But why wait when we have the download link to grab the full MIUI 12 firmware for manual installation on your Mi 10 Pro EU variant? Of course, you can always take the standard route, but if you choose the manual way, remember to backup your data first.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem.
