PSA: Xbox Live Gold to Game Pass Ultimate (GPU) conversion ratio downgraded to 3:2 along with subscription price hike

Xbox Live and Game Pass Ultimate are two subscription services offered by Microsoft that provide numerous benefits and features.

Xbox Live Gold allows players to access online multiplayer gaming on Xbox consoles and add-ons, get early access to betas and trials and free games every month.

On the other hand, the Game Pass Ultimate gives one access to over 100 high-quality games and all the benefits of Xbox Live Gold.

Microsoft also allows Xbox Live Gold subscribers to upgrade their membership to GPU at a discounted rate. By doing so, one can get discounts of as much as 50% off on purchasing new games and add-ons.

Along with this, they can save their in-game progress across Xbox consoles and PCs.

Earlier, when one made the conversion, the time remaining on the Xbox Live Gold subscription got converted into an equivalent period of Game Pass Ultimate.

For instance, if one had three months of Xbox Live Gold remaining and chose to upgrade, they would receive three months of GPU as part of the conversion.

However, recently, the company has changed the conversion ratio and hiked the monthly game subscription price as well. The monthly basic tier of Xbox Game Pass now costs $10.99, while the Ultimate tier is priced at $16.99.

And by looking at the reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7), it appears that the XBLG to GPU conversion has been downgraded to 3:2 for PC, meaning 3 months of XBLG will receive 2 months of GP.

In addition to this, the Xbox Game Pass for Console conversion ratio has been modified to 4:3, giving those with 90 days of Xbox Game Pass for Console a total of 68 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time.

Also, the EA Play conversion ratio is now 3:1, which implies that 3 months of EA Play will now convert to 1 month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time.

With the change to the Gold/GPU conversion ratio, the savings dropped from around 2/3 to only 1/2 when using $60 12-month gold codes.

Notably, some folks had already been speculating that the company would stop 1:1 conversion by the end of the year.

It was going to happen at some point. Gold been 9.99 for well at least the 360 days. Than they added EA Play and game pass for 5.00 more. Cost of business. They pay to have 3rd party games on the gsme pass. You also get perks on top of that. Well worth it even at 16.99 if you use game pass a lot.
