Multiple X users have lately been facing an issue where the app keeps auto-switching to the ‘For You’ tab by default.

This tab is, for sure, helpful in discovering new content based on one’s interests and staying up-to-date on what’s happening.

However, it’s quite frustrating and annoying for some users that the client now opens the ‘For You’ tab upon launch.

X (formerly Twitter) app auto-switching to ‘For You’ tab

Back in January, Twitter introduced a change that caused the app or website to automatically open the last-used tab upon launch.

Thanks to this alteration, one could easily access the information from ‘For You’ or ‘Following’ tabs as per their needs.

However, by looking at the reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), it appears that the X app has been defaulting to the ‘For You’ tab upon launch for the past few days.

For reference, the ‘For You’ tab combines and displays content from accounts that one follows as well as posts from accounts one doesn’t follow.

Some people are disappointed as they prefer to remain on the ‘Following’ tab, which only shows content from the accounts that they follow.

They contend that the posts shown in the For You tab are of little to no use to them. Users have also noted that they automatically get switched to this tab when they are away for more than 10 minutes.

In addition, people have observed that they get moved to the ‘For You’ tab upon creating a new post. And surprisingly, this happens even when they were on the ‘Following’ tab previously.

As a result, those impacted have taken to Twitter to voice their discontent and look for ways to revert to the previous app behavior.

OMG @Support, quit sending me to the poorly named “for you” anytime I look at the app in the wrong way. I *never* want to be there.

A few have even questioned the need for introducing such a change. They are now also thinking of uninstalling the app from their phones.

No official response

Unfortunately, X has not officially responded to the matter. But we do hope that it will acknowledge and address the concern soon.

Having said that, we will keep an eye on this issue and let you know about the latest developments.
