But it seems that iOS 16 update is causing serious problems in the operation of the app. According to multiple reports, videos recorded on Wyze cameras have no sound in the app after iOS 16 update.

I updated to ios16 and now my recorded events don’t have sound. People who haven’t updated to the new iOS and I share my cameras with have no problems hearing the sound on my recorded events.

Apparently, the iOS gallery ‘sound’ option can’t be enabled since it is grayed out for Wyze videos.

A problem that can be quite serious

The bug can be quite serious when the recorded video is required as evidence for legal situations. Recorded audio can also be essential when solving a criminal case, for example.

So unfortunately my home was involved in an arson the week before last, fortunately the four wyze cameras I had were able to get multiple videos of the criminal in my home before he destroyed them.

A few days ago I updated my iPhone to iOS16 and came to realize when speaking with a detective that I had lost all of the sound in my videos. The sound and what the criminal was saying is CRUCIAL evidence.

Official acknowledgment & potential workaround

The Wyze team is already aware of the problem and what is causing it. They say it all stems from a change in the iOS 16 video format support.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding. We have found the reasons of this issue and are still working on it. ios 16 recently changed the video format they supported leading to not able to play sound in the video.

This means that the integrity of the sound in videos recorded by Wyze cameras is not affected. If you try to play the video on non-iOS 16 devices, you should be able to hear the sound without issues.
