[Up: Outage fixed] World of Warcraft: Dragonflight server & login issues get acknowledged, fix in the works

In the MMO segment, World of Warcraft is undoubtedly one of the top names. The long-running saga has been around for many years in the industry and continues to receive expansions.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is the latest expansion to the franchise universe. However, it seems that the initial release has been a bit bumpy.

According to multiple reports, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight players are facing severe server and login issues on its debut.

Currently, a good number of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight players are unable to access their accounts. The reports indicate situations such as characters unable to load and UI settings getting reset to default, among others.

The login issues seem to be affecting the accounts partially and randomly. This means that some players are able to login with only some of their characters.

Can’t login with only 1 of my characters

Was playing through the new expansion and got DCed. Now I can’t login with that character but still can with my others. It says “world server is down”

Lost Ingame UI Settings?

In the struggle to login to Dragonflight and fighting the queue boss, when I finally got in my UI settings are all default and my saved profiles are MIA

Am I missing anything and/or did this happen to anyone else?

However, the issue is not completely affecting everyone’s ability to log in. In most cases, once logged in, some elements of the game do not load correctly (characters, personal settings, items, UI, etc).

It’s not an authentication issue. I can LOGIN just fine and see my characters. What I CANT do is load a zone instance. The world server is down. That’s not autnetication.

Fortunately, the Blizzard team is already aware of the issue and working to resolve it, but there is no ETA for the solution.

In the meantime, those players whose UI isn’t loading correctly can try the workaround described in this short video.

It’s worth pointing out that, in addition to the above, the World of Warcraft Illidan server is experiencing notable performance issues.

Several players are reporting that there is a lot of lag present, making WOW unplayable on that server at the moment.

I have been posting to BlizzardCS as well. We are getting some very strange loot lag on Illidan. It eventually works you just have to wait 1-2min for it to complete.

@BlizzardCS Illidan seems to be having issues of it’s own, any word on what’s wrong or when it will be playable? Server restart didn’t seem to help at all.

There is no official word on this specific problem from the Blizzard team. We will update this story as events unfold.

11:44 am (IST): Several reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) suggest that Area 52 servers are currently down or not working.

Luckily, the support team has acknowledged the issue and said that they are working to resolve it.

Moreover, some players are also reporting (1, 2, 3, 4) that Boat to Dragon Isles is not showing up for them. Unfortunately, the support team hasn’t yet acknowledged the problem.

18:31 pm (IST): A number of players (1,2,3,4,5) are reporting an issue where their character is getting stuck and they are unable to use the ‘Stuck Character’ service. However, the issue can be resolved by following the steps listed below:

• Press Esc or click the ? button to open the menu.
• Click Support.
• Scroll down to the self-service options and click Stuck Character Service then click Continue.

Fortunately, Blizzard has acknowledged the issue and is working towards resolving it.

Apart from this, some users (1,2,3,4,5) are also experiencing an issue where they are struggling to submit the tickets.

This issue has been acknowledged by the developers as well.

08:16 am (IST): Fresh reports indicate that World of Warcraft servers are currently down or not working for several players (1, 2, 3). Some are also getting a ‘134’ error message (1, 2, 3).

09:18 am (IST): Multiple WoW players report that the servers are currently down or not working for them (1, 2).

11:30 am (IST): The lack of new related reports indicates that outage on WoW servers has been fixed.

09:59 am (IST): Currently some WoW servers are in the middle of an outage that prevents players from logging in (1, 2). The issue has been acknowledged, but there’s no ETA for a fix yet.

05:10 pm (IST): The lack of new related reports in a few hours suggests that the latest issue has been resolved.
