Original story (from Sept 13) follows:

Microsoft and Nokia came together in 2011, to bring out the Nokia Lumia smartphones that will be powered by the Microsoft’s Windows OS. Nokia went ahead and completely ditched the Android operating system.

As a result, the Nokia Lumia smartphone and their collaboration with Microsoft turned out to be a huge disaster and the implementation of the Windows OS completely failed. Moreover, Microsoft sold Nokia in 2013 and later Nokia was bought over by HMD Global.

The impact of using Android on Nokia smartphones and the take-over by HMD Global has been very fruitful for Nokia, as the brand has joined the race and is making efforts to cement their place in today’s competing smartphone market.

However, Microsoft rolled out the Windows 10 Mobile update for the Nokia Lumia based smartphones for the arm-based devices. The update carries the version number OS Build 15254.587, was released on 10 September 2019, and is now hitting the units.

Also, note that this will be the last update (if there are no bug fix related updates till dec 2019) that the Nokia Lumia devices or any other devices running the Windows 10 Mobile or Mobile Enterprise will receive. Below is the official dialogue shared on the Microsoft support website:

Windows 10 Mobile, version 1709 will reach end of service on December 10, 2019. Devices running Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats.

Moreover, the official twitter handle of the Windows Update, shared the release notes on 10 September 2019 confirming the new update for the Windows 10 arm-based Nokia Lumia smartphones:

The updates brings in bug fixes as well. As previously mentioned, the Windows 10 based smartphones will stop receiving the updates after December 2019.

If you have not received any notification for the update on your Nokia Lumia device then you need to swipe left on the home screen>>Settings>>phone update>>Check for updates. This will notify you if the update has arrived for your device or not and if the update is available, tap on it to install.
