Software updates often bring new changes that are aimed at improving user experience. But not all changes are appreciated by users.

A few months ago, Microsoft got heavily criticized for tweaking the position of Outlook navigation bar. And now, the Redmond company has a new change for Windows 10 search icon which is also getting similar treatment.

Windows 10 latest search icon size in taskbar too big

Microsoft recently released an update for Windows 10 which included a change that increased the size of the search icon in the taskbar.

However, this change has caused some frustration among Windows 10 users, as they find the new search icon size to be larger than what they are accustomed to.

As a result, many people are demanding an option to revert to the old version of the search icon. Here are some reports for reference:

This is a new install of windows and after an update the taskbar search icon looks weirdly big. Does anyone know what caused this and how i could revert this to its original size (Source)

I just did a fresh install of Windows 10 (on a vm), and when I enebled the search icon, it showed this stupidly big icon on my taskbar. IDK why this is happening. Is this a change or a bug? (Source)

The enlarged search icon on Windows 10 taskbar has left some users dissatisfied, forcing them to demand for a way back. Unfortunately, enabling the ‘Use small taskbar buttons’ option does not solve the problem.

This hints that the large icon size is an intentional change by Microsoft. Moreover, it might have been implemented in order to align with the search icon size on Windows 11.

While users currently have no option to revert this change, all they can do for now is provide their feedback to Microsoft regarding the search icon size.
