Just in case you’re trying to get your head around why Wikipedia isn’t working for you, find solace in the fact that you aren’t the only one facing issues lately.

A quick look at micro-blogging site Twitter conveys there are many others affected by the same issue. As per reports, while some say the service isn’t working or broken for them, others say it throws an error stating “Our servers are currently under maintenance or experiencing a technical problem.”

For a quick glance, here’s how some of the complainants word the problem:

Down detector – a popular service that gives information about live outages – also conveys that Wikipedia is indeed going through a glitch as can be seen in the image below:

Any official word on the matter? Negative, as yet. We’re yet to locate a word from the official service channels or their social media handles.

Update 2 (June 13, 2022)

09:47 am (IST): User reports on Twitter now indicate that Wikipedia is currently down or not working for many. Moreover, reports on Downdetector also convey the same.

07:14 pm (IST): It appears that the recent issue with Wikipedia has been resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh user reports on Downdetector.

Update 3 (June 23, 2022)

11:18 am (IST): According to fresh user reports (1, 2, 3), Wikipedia is currently down or not working for many.

07:00 pm (IST): The recent outage with Wikipedia has now been resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh user reports (1, 2, 3).

Update 4 (February 22, 2023)

02:58 pm (IST): Multiple reports indicate that the Wikipedia platform is currently down or not working (1, 2, 3).

04:00 pm (IST): The service is once again available to everyone.

Update 5 (July 23, 2023)

06:21 am (IST): Wikipedia appears to be undergoing an unexpected outage. Some users report (1,2,3) that they’re seeing a ‘503 Service Unavailable’ error when visiting the site.

08:30 am (IST): The outage has been resolved.
