Users have taken to Reddit to seek help from others to fix the bug on their smartwatches.
Am I missing something here. I’ve got a galaxy watch 5 pro and the latest WhatsApp installed but no notifications come through on the watch. Everything is on the the settings l. I have to open the app on the watch to see anything (Source)
Not sure what is with this shitty OS, without the WhatsApp wearos app installed on my gw5 watch, all seems to be and Whatsapp notifications on the watch and phone work simultaneously. But when I install the app, more than half the time the watch won’t show/buzz for Whatsapp notifications on the watch. (Source)
WhatsApp recently launched for Wear OS smartwatched and thus this issue affects those with the Galaxy Watch 4, 5 and 6 models.
At present, it’s unclear whether the other Wear OS-powered smartwatch users are encountering the notifications bug with WhatsApp.
Some say that the notifications don’t show up at all while others claim that they do get notifications at times but not consistently.
A potential solution for the Wear OS WhatsApp notifications bug
A user also shared a workaround for the issue which involves installing the WhatsApp companion app on the stock Samsung watchface.
It’s not clear how and why this could fix the problem, but it’s worth trying it out.
While another user said that they had to uninstall the application in order to receive the notifications on their watch.
So far, there haven’t been any official statements from Samsung regarding the issue.
We’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments on the matter.
