The world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is filled with critical choices. Players can choose to be a lawful saint or an absolute nightmare in the game. All of this depends on their choices in the game. But what if making good choices leads to dark outcomes? The story of Nere is a good example of this.

The dark fate of True soul Nere in Baldur’s Gate 3

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Absolute plays the main antagonistic force of the game. This cult of murderous infected is led by specific individuals with a higher appetite for violence and death, who are labeled as the ‘True souls’.

In Act 1 of the story, one of the most significant true souls is a Drow named Nere. He can be found in the Grymforge, stuck behind a wall of rubble. After saving the true soul from his rocky grave, players can either choose to kill him or free him from the influence of the Absolute.

If the player manages to free the True Soul from the Absolute’s grasp, they won’t be making things any brighter for Nere at all. Not only does sparing Nere deprive players of getting one of the best items in the game, but it also leads him toward a much darker fate.

After getting free from the absolute’s grasp, Nere will go to take his revenge on the Necromancer, Balthazar. But he fails miserably to kill, and in return for his audacity to attack a high necromancer, Balthazar not only kills him but also turns his corpse into his undead servant.
