New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 11, 2022) follows:

Vizio is one of the most popular TV brands in the US and all their TVs come with a built-in SmartCast platform which is similar to Chromecast in functionality.

Recently, Vizio TVs received a new update to v5.510.32.5-2 which seems to be the cause of multiple issues that some TV owners are experiencing.

According to reports, some users say that the Vizio TV is completely frozen on a white screen, while for others their SmartCast is not working properly.

Other issues also include oversaturated colors being displayed and connectivity issues.

SmartCast behaving erratically

Many Vizio TV users say that SmartCast fails to cast a video to their TV even after multiple attempts (1,2,3).

In some cases, when users try to boot up their SmartCast, it fails to connect and displays an ‘error code 2410_1’ on the screen.

@Sony Why does my Vizio TV fail almost everytime I attempt to cast video to it. I would estimate that video plays as expected on 1 out of 50 casting attempts. How do I get it to work as advertised? It was expensive. It should work.

Bricking TVs and oversaturated colors

After the latest firmware update, the different color modes are not functioning properly. In warm mode, colors are dim and users never quite get the full brightness their TVs are capable of.

In normal mode, certain bright areas are washed out and lack all the detail.

In other cases, many users get a message on the screen that says ‘Unable to apply update’ and the screen stays frozen. The only way to unfreeze is to unplug the TV.

Never will I own another Vizio product my TV 18 months old and the worst tv I have ever owned and it wasn’t their cheapest it was an M Series. Vizio pushed an update that froze the TV and it would not recover even after restart.

Connectivity issues

Some Vizio users report that their TVs are unable to recognize external devices like receivers, external audio devices, and even Wi-Fi (1,2,3).

So it seems that after the latest firmware, the tv lost the ability to connect to wifi. I am not sure what to do since I have already rebooted my network, reset the tv, and tried another wifi connection near the tv. I haven’t tried wired but I’m not near the router to plug-in. Any suggestions?

Users have already tried troubleshooting methods such as resetting the TV, rebooting, pairing and unpairing but nothing seems to work.

There is no official acknowledgment yet for any of these issues so there is no guarantee that a fix will come soon.

That said, we’ll keep track of the situation and will post an update if and when there are any further developments regarding the matter.
