The Vivo Y17 is also known as the Vivo Y3 in China and is a great budget device for those looking to buy a phone that packs a punch without blowing a hole in the wallet.

It is powered by the modest Mediatek Helio P35 processor, has a 5000mAh battery, and a large 6.35-inch HD+ display.

And in the photography department, the device comes with 3 cameras in the rear – 13MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP depth sensor.

On the software end, the Vivo Y17 came with Funtouch OS 9 based on Android 9 Pie, which was obviously the latest piece of software available at the time of its release.

Speaking of release, the device hit the shelves over two years back in April 2019.

Although its somewhat modern design with slim bezels would lead you to believe that it’s a recent release, the device has begun to show its age, especially in terms of performance.

Nonetheless, as many may already be aware, Vivo typically provides 2 Android version updates and up to 3 years of security updates.

Going by this assumption, the Vivo Y17 should be eligible for Android 11. This update should be the last major update for the device. After all, the 2 year software support period has already passed.

And eligible for Android 11 the Vivo Y17 indeed is as Vivo India support has now confirmed it on Twitter.

As clear from above, the Android 11 update for the Vivo Y17 is currently undergoing grayscale testing. This means that the update is being rolled out for select users to ensure that it’s free from bugs.

If it indeed is bug-free, a wider rollout should be kickstarted soon.

With this, users of the Vivo Y17 might also want to stay on the lookout for an upcoming update to their devices as the company should be rolling out Android 11 to the masses in due course.

So stay tuned to our dedicated Vivo Android 11 update tracker in the meantime to stay in the loop.
