Vivo, like many other Android OEMs, has been busy working on, testing and rolling out various builds of its Android 11-based custom skin, Funtouch OS 11, to eligible devices.

We continue to closely follow the deployment of various builds of Funtouch OS 11 to eligible devices and you can check out more on that in our dedicated Vivo Android 11 tracker.

Most recently, we saw the company rolling out its Android 11-based Funtouch OS 11 update to the Vivo V19 in India, much to the delight of users.

With that rollout, the Vivo V19 joined the ever-growing list of the company’s devices that have received Android 11 updates including but not limited to the Vivo X50, X50 Pro, V20 SE, and more.

In the same report, we got word that the company was planning to push out the same update to other devices such as the Vivo V17, V17 Neo, Y19, Y11, Y12, V15 Pro and the Vivo V15.

Well, true to the company’s word, today users of the Vivo V17 in India are a lucky batch as Vivo is rolling out Android 11-based Funtouch OS 11 to their devices.

The update which bears software version number PD1948F_EX_A6.70.8 brings with it all the Android 11 features along with Funtouch OS 11’s exclusive features.

These include more Home screen customization options, dynamic effects across the user interface along with system performance and stability improvements.

As mentioned, this Android 11 update is rolling out to users of the Vivo V17 in India. Chances are that users of the device in other markets will see their units get updated soon.

Also worth noting is that, there are already a few reports of bugs and issues reported in this update and as such, we’d advise anyone hoping to hop onto the Android 11 train with this firmware to be cautious.

In recent times, we have seen OEMs recalling updates (1,2) one too many times and the same could happen for this one should it prove to be too buggy.

Update (April 6)

IST 10:100 am: Three weeks after this report of the Android 11 update rolling out to Vivo V17 in India, it is now coming to light that the update is still in greyscale.

We have released Android 11 (R) OTA to very few V17 customers, only for testing purpose. If there will be no negative feedback then we will release the update frequency.
